Some people think that robots are very important to human’s future development, while others think they are dangerous and have negative effects on society. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Opinions are divided on whether robots pose potential threats and negative societal impacts or whether these highly intelligent machines are essential for future development. While some valid concerns highlight the downsides of automation, I firmly believe that the social, economic, and cultural benefits of robotics outweigh the risks.
Critics of automation often cite potential dangers and adverse societal effects. Regarding threats, highly intelligent robots, programmed with specific moral codes and ethical standards, may develop conflicts with humans over social issues. For instance, if a highly advanced AI prioritizes environmental conservation and animal welfare, it might eventually view humans as a threat to the planet, leading to extreme measures. In the worst-case scenario, unchecked robotic advancements could create a dystopian society where humans are controlled or eliminated. However, this outcome is highly speculative and can be prevented by AI developers implementing effective safeguards to limit robotic intelligence. Furthermore, continuous advancements in artificial intelligence may foster a generation overly dependent on robots, leading to cognitive stagnation and reduced productivity, which could hinder economic and social progress.
Despite these concerns, proponents of automation, including myself, argue that robots play a crucial role in future development. The fear of reduced cognitive engagement is largely unfounded, as individuals can take the initiative to remain mentally and physically active. Economically, robots enhance productivity across various industries, as evidenced by Vietnam’s rising income per capita in 2024, driven by automation and reduced labor costs. Moreover, robotic technology significantly impacts healthcare services, as seen in Japanese hospitals where robots assist medical professionals, improving patient care and service quality. Culturally, AI-driven applications help preserve historical moments, aiding memory retention over time.
In conclusion, while robots may pose ethical and societal challenges, these issues can be mitigated through proper regulation. When used effectively, robotics contribute to social, economic, and cultural advancements, making them indispensable for future progress.
