Science Park Map

Science Park Map

The provided maps compare a science park today with its 2008 blueprint.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is evident that the park has become more space-efficient with an increased number of amenities. Additionally, the park is now more accessible in terms of added transport facilities for all users.

In terms of the transport network, the main road running north to south in the northeastern corner added two major bicycle lanes perpendicular to each other, and a cycle path linking to the car park was established in the west. The railway line saw the introduction of a new station, and a new road was constructed, connecting the station with the car park.

In the northwestern region, the grassland has been removed in favour of a newly-developed building dedicated to research and development, while the reception had its function altered to be a university hub. The woodland to the north, adjacent offices, and the western business units remained virtually unchanged.

Regarding the southeastern part of the map, the cyber security building has been lengthened northward, now taking an L-shaped form and replacing the existing grassland and forestry area. Furthermore, the car park was diminished in size, and the IT centre shifted its function to be used for innovation, both of which have been linked to the cyber security and station for increased accessibility.

COMPARATIVE LANGUAGE AND PASSIVE VOICE

“Regarding the southeastern part of the map, the cyber security building has been lengthened northward, now taking an L-shaped form and replacing the existing grassland and forestry area.”

In this sentence, I used the passive voice, which is a common structure in academic writing. Additionally, I used comparative language to compare the current state of the cyber security building (now) with its previous state, indicating the changes that have been made. This type of language is useful for IELTS learners who want to enhance their academic writing skills.
