The maps compare the layouts of Liverton docks in 1980 and at present.
Overall, there have been significant updates, shifting from serving logistical purposes to residential and recreational facilities in Liverton. Moreover, the addition of a bridge has increased accessibility between the two banks of the river.
Regarding the northern side, there used to be two warehouses and cranes for inventory. Now, the eastern warehouse has been replaced by an education center, which is close to a newly constructed sailing club. Meanwhile, a children’s playground has replaced the western warehouse and crane.
In terms of the other side, the most remarkable change is the construction of a bridge connecting the two sides of the river, followed by the flood barrier. The warehouse and crane on this side were demolished to make way for more residential options, such as a hotel for visitors and apartments with adjacent parking space for citizens. Additionally, as the dock is no longer used for shipping and delivering goods, there is now a ship museum in the heart of the river and a river walk catering to the leisure needs of the inhabitants and tourists.
