The diagrams display cross-sections of a typical modern household landfill, delineating both its construction sequences and applications

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the design of the structure comprises both natural and synthetic raw materials with piping laid at the bottom, enabling both the storage of household waste and the removal of liquid waste and gases when in use.

As far as the build is concerned, the space for the waste storage structure is created by excavating a rectangular hole into natural rock. The structural walls are made of synthetic pipes and clay running horizontally with drainage pipes placed at the bottom floor, beneath which lies a drainage tank.

When the landfill is put into use, household waste is stored inside the structure, of which the liquid part is disposed of through the drainage tank. As the structure is closed by a clay cover at the top, the existing pipes are further extended on the ground level, allowing for the discharging of gas by-products.
